French policemen are looking for mummy’s hair seller
We have already posted that hair could become a profitable business. Especially if this hair belongs to a celebrity or… a mummy.
At the end of November an advertisement about the Egyptian pharaoh remains’ partial sale appeared on Vivastreet.fr. Unknown sellers asked 2000 Euros for a lock! They guaranteed the goods authenticity: it was also mentioned that they had a certificate on proof of identity. According to the ad the lock had been taken from the Ramzes’s mummy by one of the sellers’ father who was in 1976-77 among a group of scientists examining the mummy in France.
Both the police and the scientific world took this matter very seriously. Rigorous investigation was initiated at the end of November in France. At the moment the law-enforcement agencies are trying to find this ad’s authors.
Ramzes II reined the Egypt in 1304-1237 BC and led a lot of military campaigns. Within that period numerous sanctuaries and statues devoted to the pharaoh were constructed. It is traditionally considered that Ramzes II is described in biblical narration about the Jew’s exodus from the Egypt.
Wonderful eyelashes
In the USA the latest trend in cosmetology is eyelashes extension and transplantation. Plastic surgeons have discovered the way to suture eyelashes to eyelid and implant them into skin. It is similar to the transplantation method used in case of hair loss. Your hairs are simply relocated from the donor site of your own head to the eyelid. About 50 little hairs are needed to be implanted in one eyelid. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with the use of self-absorbable sutures and takes 1-2 hours. If a patient has naturally straight hair he is recommended to make chemical curling of the transplanted eyelashes for a more natural look. At first such procedure aimed those people who had some accidents which led to eyelashes damage. It also helped women who used intensively false eyelashes and as a result lost their own ones. But the most curious thing about this is that transplanted eyelashes should be… cut from time to time!
Hair chair
Ronald Thompson, a 49-year old Englishman, a barber in the past, is nowadays a hair furniture designer. He calculated that a hair lock is able to bear 8750 times more than its own weight and that a bush of hair can take over 13 tons. He read that hairdresser’s saloons in England throw away approximately 200-220 thousand tons of hair per year! One year later a hair chair pilot sample was ready. Thompson speaks about his raw material: “It is multipurpose, waterproof, doesn’t conduct current, corrosion and fire resistant, strong and durable. It can compete with carton, fiber glass, polymers and aluminum”. Ronald is sure that his material can be used in architecture, automobile industry, headdress, clothes and shoes manufacture, as well as in lash mascara production.
Stiletto is a chair model made using bronze and sold at the price of more than $15.000. More than 2 kg of hair were used for its production. Taking into account that one haircut gives only 5 g of hair it appears that it will take 46 years to grow hair to produce one Stiletto chair. But actually it doesn’t worry Thompson – there are plenty of hairs everywhere! Ronald has already sent a letter to a Lord Mayor of London asking him about a possibility to gather needless hair from all hairdressers’ saloons in the city. In the near future Thompson’s company is going to present other hair chair models. Besides, Ronald suggests celebrities contribute their hair to hair furniture production which then could be sold at public auctions. All the revenues would be diverted to charity.
